Last night, occupiers mic-checked and dropped banners at the Diego Rivera exhibit at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art. “Art is not a luxury item!” and “End the Lockout!” resonated throughout the museum’s five-story atrium.

The action was a direct attack on the museum’s connection to Sotheby’s, which has locked out 42 art-handlers.

The video features pieces on display at MoMA of Diego Rivera, who used art as a means for understanding the history of working people’s struggle.

Sotheby’s is bad for art. Share widely if you agree.”
